In accordance with the policies approved by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, the contact info a domain name is registered with must be valid and accurate at all times. Moreover, this info is openly visible on WHOIS lookup websites and while this may be okay for firms, it may not be very acceptable for individuals, because everyone can view their names and their personal street and email addresses, all the more so in times when identity theft is not that uncommon. That’s the reason why domain name registrars have come up with a service that hides the details of their clients without altering them. The service is called ID Protection, Privacy Protection or WHOIS Protection. If it is activated, people will view the details of the registrar company, not those of the domain owner, if they make a WHOIS enquiry. The ID Protection service is supported by all generic domain extensions, but it’s still impossible to conceal your private info with some country-code ones.

ID Protection in Website Hosting

If you order a website hosting package from our company, you’ll be able to activate ID Protection for any of your domains as long as their extensions support this option. You can register or transfer a domain and add ID Protection during the account activation process or you can activate the service for any of your domains at any time later through the Hepsia hosting Control Panel. The procedure is extremely easy – after you sign in, you’ll need to visit the Registered Domains section where you’ll find a list of all the domain names that you’ve registered through our company. For each of them you’ll see an “ID Protect” symbol, which will tell you if the service is activated or not. By clicking on it, you can either ID-protect the domain, or you can turn off the service if it is currently enabled.

ID Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

If you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account with our company and you register a domain under it, you can add our ID Protection service effortlessly. This requires only a couple of mouse clicks in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia Control Panel, via which you administer everything connected with your account. This is where you can see all your domain names and for each one of them you will find an “ID Protect” button, using which you can enable, renew or disable the ID Protection service. Of course, this will be possible only with generic and country-code domain extensions that support this option and you’ll be able to see this in advance, so that you won’t end up ordering a service that we can’t provide.
